What brick slips are
Brick slips are thin sections, usually 15–25mm deep, cut from real clay bricks or made from the same fired clay body. Fixed to a backing board or a mechanical rail system and pointed by hand with mortar, they read exactly like a full brick wall but add only a fraction of the weight and thickness, so they can go where real bricks cannot.
Fitted over insulation
The most common use is as the finished face of an external wall insulation system for homeowners who want brick rather than render. We fix insulation boards to the wall, add a carrier board or track, bond the slips course by course, then point them. Purpose-made corner slips wrap external angles so there are no visible joints or give-away edges.
Colours and bonds
Hundreds of brick blends are available — red multi, buff, weathered stock, blue-grey and more — laid in stretcher, Flemish or stack bond. We can match the brick on an existing house so an extension ties in, or pick a contrasting brick for a plinth, porch or feature panel.
Durability and upkeep
Once pointed, a brick slip elevation behaves like brickwork: no repainting, no re-coating and a service life measured in decades. If a slip is ever damaged it can be cut out and replaced individually without disturbing the surrounding wall.
